Autonomous Maintenance (AM) Training

ENQUIRE NOW

Building Equipment-Caring Operators & Sustaining Basic Conditions

Turn your operators from “machine users” into “equipment caretakers” who can see abnormalities early, act on them, and prevent breakdowns. Our 3-day Autonomous Maintenance (AM) training lays a solid TPM foundation for higher OEE, fewer chronic breakdowns, and safer, cleaner machines.

Why is Autonomous Maintenance critical for your organisation?

In conventional setups, maintenance “fixes”, production “runs”, and no one owns basic conditions. Which results in dirt, leaks, loose bolts and minor defects accumulate, abnormalities remain invisible until they become breakdowns and Cleaning, inspection and lubrication are irregular and inefficient. Autonomous Maintenance (AM) changes this by:

  • Making operators responsible for cleaning, inspection, lubrication and tightening (CLIT)
  • Building skills to identify, tag and correct abnormalities
  • Establishing basic & desirable conditions to prevent accelerated deterioration of equipment

Key Learning Objectives of AM Training

Understand AM Objectives & Steps

Understand objectives and steps of Autonomous Maintenance (AM 1–3)

Identify Deterioration & Condition Gaps

Identify accelerated deterioration and the gap between current and “basic” conditions of equipment.

Use AM Step 1

Perform initial cleaning and tagging, and build “look-for” lists for abnormalities.

Use AM Step 2

Design countermeasures, eliminate hard-to-access areas and create a visual workplace that reduces cleaning, inspection and lubrication time.

Use AM Step 3

Convert learning into standards and checklists for CLIT, with clear methods, frequencies, ownership and target times.

Who should attend AM Training?

Production Managers, Supervisors & Operators

Maintenance Engineers & Technicians

TPM / CI / Lean Coordinators

Safety & Quality Engineers involved in equipment reliability

Empower Operators to eliminate losses with Autonomous Maintenance Training Program

AM Step 1

Initial Cleaning & Abnormality Detection

  • AM overview – 7 steps, operator journey from “I make stuff” to “Equipment expert”.
  • Why equipment fails: natural vs accelerated deterioration, basic vs desirable conditions.
  • 8 Types of Abnormalities – minor flaws, unfulfilled basic conditions, HTA, contamination sources, quality defect sources, unnecessary items, unsafe places, unsafe practices.
  • How to understand the equipment: key parts, functions, safety measures before AM work.
  • Hands-on practice: Build an Abnormality Look-For List (necessary + desirable conditions) for selected parts (gears, belts, lubrication points, sensors, etc.).
  • Initial cleaning exercise (on pilot machine or case study)
  • Abnormality tagging system, how to create tag list / abnormality register,
  • How to create weekly AM cleaning schedules, tag graphs and AM boards.

Introduction to AM Step 1 audit criteria: machine condition, team activity, regularity.

AM Step 2

Countermeasures & Visual Workplace

  • Learn Objectives of AM Step 2 Prevent outbreaks, Eliminate hard-to-access areas (HTA) and Create a visual workplace so that abnormalities are obvious at a glance.
  • Building a Machine Map to Mark sources of contamination, HTA zones, lubrication points.
  • Using 5 Why / Why-Why Analysis & countermeasures on repeated tags to find root causes of contamination and inaccessibility.
  • Visual control techniques to identify abnormalities proactively
  • Case studies on AM Step 2
  • How to document Step 2 improvements and track CILT time reduction.
  • How to conduct AM Step 2 audit

AM Step 3

Tentative Standards & Visual Control

  • Learn Objectives of AM Step 3: Maintain basic conditions achieved in Steps 1–2., Create tentative standards for cleaning, inspection, lubrication and tightening and Strengthen visual control so that correct/incorrect conditions are obvious.
  • Difference between Checklist vs Standard:
  • Designing CILT Standards
  • Visual standards & color coding for Cleaning, lubrication, inspection and tightening
  • Hands-on practice: Develop a sample AM Standard Sheet for one pilot machine:
  • How to integrate AM Step 3 standards into daily management, visual boards and audits.
